The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by Robert Louis Stevenson, is realistic fiction about a scientist and his invention… gone wrong. This wonderful novel clearly portrays the values of kindness, friendship, and patience. Mystifying all readers, this book is unusual and, at the same time, a thrilling story for all people.

When the respected man, Dr. Jekyll appears to have made an unusual acquaintance, his friends begin to worry. This strange associate, Mr Hyde, has been found numerous times at, or near, the scene of the crime… but no charges have ever been brought up. Too soon, things begin to spin out of control when the evil man becomes a murderer… and suddenly disappears, while Dr. Jekyll’s health takes a turn for the worse…

Kindness, patience, and friendship are often shown in this book. Friendship is commonly found in the novel.  Without friendship, no one would even attempt to find out the whereabouts of Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde. The lack of patience in The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde leads to many problems. The impatience of Dr. Jekyll led to his own destruction. Instead of taking time on his experiments, he blindly uses them on himself. The kindness of Dr. Jekyll comes back to him when the people respect his wishes to give up on searching for the strange Mr. Hyde, leading him to protect himself. In his hour of most need, Dr. Jekyll finds out who his true friends really are.

The book is an exciting piece of literature as well as an odd novel. Robert Louis Stevenson does a wonderful job with characterization, especially with Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The events Robert Louis Stevenson chooses to write about convey his characters well. I recommend The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to all people interested in the field of science.
