            The Hidden Harbor Mystery, by Franklin W. Dixon, is a mystery novel about Frank and Joe Hardy. These two detectives attempt to settle a dispute over a piece of land, only to find out that the argument started because of the possibility of hidden treasure! The setting is in a town called Bayport. This piece of literature has some themes such as persistence, patience, and friendship. It is a wonderful novelette surrounded in mystery.

            Frank and Joe Hardy, two amateur detectives, are called to the scene! An old feud between two families suddenly breaks out again and they are rushed over to help. Soon the boys realize that there is more than meets the eye in this mystery. Could these people want something more than the treasure? Are they trying to hide something?

            In this book, when the Hardy Boys seem to have lost the trail,  but are than find themselves closer than ever through persistence and a little bit of luck. When they seem to have hit a dead end, they continue to return the scene of the crime… and soon uncover their best clue so far, clearly portraying persistence. Had Frank and Joe given up on the case when they received a phony phone call, then they would have never found the treasure, showing the virtue of patience. Had the boys been unfriendly, or refused to work together, Joe would have drowned in the Hidden Harbor, showing the importance of friendship.

            The Hidden Harbor Mystery is a fun and interesting mystery. The vocabulary in this book is simple and easy to understand, and the characters are well-developed. Franklin W. Dixon does a wonderful job capturing the minds of all who choose to pick up one of his books. Hardy Boys books, The Hidden Harbor Mystery included, are fun and interesting mysteries. The author did a wonderful job in characterization. By the way the characters act, you can tell what they are feeling.  Franklin W. Dixon is a skilled and inventive author, and a used his ability to create wonderful literature.
