“Hello, boys and girls. Hannah Baker here. Live and in stereo. No returThirteenReasonsWhyn engagements. No encore. And this time, absolutely no requests.I hope you are ready, because I am about to tell you the story of my life. More specifically, why my life ended. And if you’re listening to these tapes, you’re one of the reasons why.”

One day a strange shoe box ends up on Clay’s front porch. He quickly brings it into his house and unwraps it thinking it is a great present, but soon learns that it is a box filled with cassettes containing the thirteen reasons for Hannah Bakers death. Clay curiously starts listening to the first tape and figures out that he, for some reason unknown at the moment, is one of the reasons for Hannah killing herself. Now the decision of whether or not to continue listening is in Clays hands. Hannah explains that if the tapes are not passed along as planed then another set will be released, so he has no choice but to continue listening to Hannah Baker tell her shocking story. Over listening to the thirteen tapes he hears many shocking unknown stories that were unexpected among his class mates. The tapes also send him traveling all over the town to special spots that were important to Hannah’s story.  Clay starts to feel the same pain Hannah was feeling and it takes a major toll on him.  He starts questioning why he didn’t see this happening or notice to try and help her before it came to this.

I would recommend this book to anybody. Boys or girls would enjoy hearing Hannah’s story. This book was very different and interesting to me because of the way it was set up. I found myself having to re-read over lines to figure out who said them. Although a little difficult t detect at times, “Thirteen Reasons Why” had a amazing story and I couldn’t put the book down until I heard her last reason why.
