“I knew he was different from the moment I laid eyes on him. Not different in a paranormal or supernatural sense; just different. I could tell he wasn’t superficial like the majority of high school students. He had a fitter grasp on life than most of us get. I didn’t understand how or why.”

Lexi isn’t like some girls, but overall just like all the rest of those craving teens for a taste of love. She had a great skater boyfriend, Michael, who always fought with her perfect best friend, Mel. Her life seemed like she had everything she wanted until, she caught eyes with the new school crush, Kellan. There was something about him that made all the girls turn when he walked in the halls. It seemed to Lexi that he was the only one who actually noticed her, with his taunting smirk, not because of her weight. But like many new comers, Kellan has a secret, not a normal teenage secret, something way beyond Lexi’s knowledge. She grows irritated and curious, Kellan and her get close, but he still refuses to tell her. This secret is being kept from Lexi, from her family and friends because soon, this dark and twisted happily ever after will soon be one of Lexi’s worst nightmare, as she too becomes this “Kellan”. Lexi doesn’t realize the danger she is about to face, after she turns 16, she doesn’t know how much she is going to have to fight, especially when things get out of hand at her killer sweet 16.

Christen Lovell did a great job mixing all these emotions, revolving around dream like crisis’s. She kept you on suspense throughout the whole book and it was not once predictable. This supernatural love story is recommended for teens that enjoy romance and a side of betrayal. If you love the book just as much as I do, you’ll also enjoy the next book, Vamp Yourself for War.
