In New York City’s Upper East Side, there have always been the same two girls on the top of the social pyramid. Their names are Blaire and Serena, better known as S and B. Those two girls were best friends. They seemed like they were more than best friends they were more like sisters. In Upper East Side Serena, Blaire and her perfect boyfriend Nate, Chuck and everyone else partied almost every night together. Scandals happened just about everyday with this group of people. But most of the time nobody cared. But one day Serena disappeared and the only thing everybody knew was that she went off to boarding school. Just about everyone knew it wasn’t the true reason. But nobody knew the real reason, not even Blaire. And she, of all people did not like it.

After about a year of not being seen, Serena, not invited, showed up to the exclusive party being held by Blaire’s mother. Blaire found out Serena was there and she was not happy about it. The two girls who used to be best friends were now enemies fighting for the Alpha power. After many weeks of taking shots at each other, they both realized they couldn’t do or be anything without each other. So once again they were the perfect best friends. After a couple more weeks of being friends again, Blaire and Nate, the “perfect couple” were together on a date when Nate decided to tell Blaire about a scandal that involved Serena. Even though it happened in the past year, Blaire got extremely mad at both Serena and Nate. Serena knew exactly why she was mad. So, once again there was another war going on between the two. In spite of Serena, Blaire threw a party where only the best of the people could get in. Serena didn’t get an invite. But, she didn’t care she showed up anyways. And that was the final straw.

Gossip Girl is a very exciting, thrilling novel. The author really knew how to use certain events to engross the readers in the book. Each chapter is engulfed with juicy, crazy, sometimes relatable drama. But, it also has many unexpected twists! This book had me on the edge of my seat reading more and more to see what would come next. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes the girly, drama, type of books!
