Rumble Fish is a great book by S.E Hinton about a boy who grew up in a tough neighborhood, with a rough family, and who’s role model is his older brother. The neighborhood is split into rough gangs who despise each other and will stop at nothing to overpower one another.

The main character “Rusty” is caught up in one of these gangs and they seem to have a very negative effect on his life. Trying to be just like his older brother “Motorcycle Boy” isn’t as easy as he thinks and he doesn’t realize that he is the exact opposite of his idol. The problems in his life just keep getting worse and worse, struggling helplessly inside of himself, getting kicked out of school, breaking up with his girlfriend. Will this madness of troubles ever stop? Will Rusty ever break away from the darkness that is pulling him deeper and deeper inside?

I definitely recommend this book to anybody who likes a good, interesting, page turner. This book is like a roller coaster and it never gets boring. This book is excellent at bringing out the brutality of gangs. All in all I think that this book deserves and amazing 5 out of 5 stars.
