Lurlene McDaniel is an author of over 40 novels about teenagers facing realistic life changing satiations. She writes about love, courage and getting through challenging situations such as disease and death. Although she writes about upsetting events, she will leave you with hope and inspiration. Lurlene began writing about this kind of trauma when her 3 year old son was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. Lurlene says that she found that writing about the trauma and its effects was therapeutic. Her stories will touch your heart and spirit and also leave you aware of what some people go through.

Before writing a book, Lurlene conducts extensive research. For example she does interviews with health care professionals, works with appropriate medical groups and hospice organizations, and works with the Tennessee Organ Donor Services. To make her novels have a sense of reality, she does things such as study medicine and traditional grief therapy techniques and study the bible.

Besides writing novels, Lurlene also has written radio and television scripts, promotional and advertising copy, and written a magazine column. She also speaks at schools, conventions and writer conferences.

Many of Lurlene’s books have been named to best seller lists, one being Publishers Weekly. Somewhere between Life and Death, Too Young to Die, and Goodbye Doesnt Mean Forever are all books of hers that were selected by children as IRA CBC Children’s Choices. Lurlene novel, Six Months to Live, was placed in a literary time capsule at the Library of Congress and it will be opened in the year 2089.

Lurlene’s Random House book DON’T DIE, MY LOVE, was made into a TV movie a few years ago. The makers re-titled it for broadcast and now Lifetime Cable TV sometimes shows it under the title of “Shattered Hearts.”

Lurlene is a very successful author that many teens love to read… so read her books.
