Rachel, an average, 14 year old, freshman, lives in New York City with her mom, her younger sister, Miri, and her cat, Tiger. Rachel lived the normal, insecure, self- absorbed life a teenager, until one when her life was flipped upside down never to be the same again. Why you might ask? Because her mom is a witch! Not in the mean way, but the spell casting, magic, enchanted broom flying witch! And to make it even weirder, her younger sister Miri has inherited powers as well! It seems as though the magic gene has skipped Rachel, and she is not very happy about it. Rachel’s mom begins to train Miri, so she can harness her raw will and be as educated about magic as possible because magic has consequences just like everything else in life. Miri isn’t supposed to use magic under any circumstances, but after a little convincing from her sister soon she will be casting spells left and right. And, as I’m sure you can guess, her magical choices come with consequences, and her life begin to spiral around in chaos. Will she be able to fix the mess she has created? Or, will it be too late?

I personally LOVED this book! It was full of tons of laughs, and was simply an enjoyable, and relatable quick read. I highly recommend this book to teen girls and anyone who enjoys fantasy. A book filled humor, a sense of family, and an unbelievably witty story. This book is a great book, and I will almost guarantee you will read it again and again. Keep your eyes out for the equally amazing sequel Frogs and French Kisses.
