Macy Queen is the typical sixteen-year old. Until her father died unexpectedly that is. Now, two years later, her mother has emotionally shut her out. And now Macy hides the loss of her father behind a mask of perfection. Her hair is perfect, her schoolwork is perfect and even her boyfriend Jason is perfect. But when Jason leaves to go to Brain camp for the summer, Macy is left behind to study all summer. But then she meets the chaotic crew form Wish catering. Delia, Wes, Kristy and a few others help her realize that life isn’t about living in the past; it’s about having fun and sometimes having to take risks.

One night after a long nights work at Wish she comes home to find an e-mail from Jason. And what she reads in the e-mail changes her entire summer. After reading the e-mail Macy decides to change her way of looking at life and finds herself in an unusual conflict.

While reading this book I was amazed at how well Dessen wrote it. The Truth about Forever is definitely a page turner. In the beginning Macy’s actions are so predictable, but after the first couple of chapters you never know what she’s going to do. Sarah Dessen is very good at creating relatable and believable characters. That is her biggest skill. This definitely a girl book and it defiantly teaches a few very good lessons.  I would recommend this book to teenage girls looking for a quick, interesting and easy read.
