“Wake up, Caitlin, Mr. Lensing had said. But what he didn’t understand was that this dreamland was preferable, walking through this life half-sleeping, everything at arm’s length or father away.”

Caitlin’s life was just the way she had wanted it until the day her sister Cassandra ran away to New York City with her boyfriend Adam: the day of Caitlin’s birthday. Now since she’s gone Caitlin is drowning in a dream land of drugs and a nightmare of Rogerson’s sudden fists, lost in her search to find herself.  Now she must frantically manage her actions and avoid being hit by the hands that once seemed so gentle… Everyone around her cares, even Cass, but all her shame keeps her from divulging her true feelings and not allowing them to point her toward home.

Dessen likes to suck you right into her books and make you feel like you’re one of the characters. I would recommend this book to any teenage girl that really like fiction romance and a little bit of adventure.
