All she ever wanted was to be pretty, ever since she was little. She was always called “Ugly” and had dreams of what it would be like to be a pretty. Tally, a trickster, thinks everyone wants to be the pretty one with the big eyes, perfect body, no acne, no bruises, fun all the time, until she meets Shay, a girl with adventure, who doesn’t want that and wants to be regular. She meets Shay on one of her adventures to spy on New Pretty Town. They become great friends until Shay leaves town to go to the Smoke. Tally, at first doesn’t care; until she finds out she can either betray her friend or never turn pretty. Will Tally betray her friend or never get to be pretty?

Uglies is a great book for those who like adventure. The first time I read Uglies I loved it because they are talking about our world by saying “The Rusties” (in a way) and this is what happens when everyone becomes perfect. This book really gets you thinking and sometimes does the opposite of what you least expect.
