Ever since she walked into that dance club, Clary fray’s life was turned inside out.  Clary witnesses a murder, of a demon? By darkhunters?  Clary can hardly believe her eyes.  What makes the situation even more confusing is, ‘mundane’ humans aren’t supposed to be able to see darkhunters.  Why is it that she can?  The darkhunters want to know, especially Jace, an extraordinary darkhunter.  Jace brings Clary into his dark and dangerous world, of fighting demons.  When a demon attacks Clary’s house, and kidnaps her mother, Clary wonders how she fits into this mysterious world.  And why did they kidnap her mother?  Clary is determined to find out, and find her mother, no matter the cost.

In City of Bones Clary must resolve the problems this new ‘darkhunter’ world has brought forth.  Clary fights the feelings of betrayal from her mother, confusion about this new world, and love, an undesirable love, for a desirable boy.  Clary must keep herself together, when her ‘worlds’ are falling to pieces.  This book is for, that fantasy lover who craves adventure, an escape from everyday life.  This novel is an enticing read, filled with mysteriousness bursting from the seams!  Cassandra Clare creates her characters based on relatable characterization.  Simon (Clary’s best friend), reminds you of that nice kid, who has his own band, but is secretly still obsessed with videogames.   Jace, the hothead, reminds you of that jerk in your life.  Clare’s style of writing is stuffed with details, which gives you visuals, but can be a dragging read.  I highly recommend this book for teenage girls who enjoy fantasy books that remind you of adventure books!
