Geek High is a school filled with game fanatics, future physicists, and math super students. While this school is full with every “gifted” child in the area, Miranda Bloom still can’t seem to find a way to fit in among her peers. Miranda is a math genius with divorced parents, an evil stepmother, and no boyfriend around. When her mother runs off to London, Miranda is forced to live with her father, step mother and step sister. Her father, who hasn’t been in her life at all throughout the years, tries to make up for the loss of time. When Miranda is forced to take part in planning the Snowflake Gala, a get together the school has every year, she is put before a very tough task. The Snowflake had a very bad reputation in the past and was deemed “boring” and not worth going to. If she doesn’t make this year’s Gala different, perfect and spectacular, her peers will continue to look down on her. But if she can pull off making it amazing, what happens next? When a boy comes into the picture, Dex, a red headed jock, Miranda can’t think of anything else. It seemed as though he was everywhere she went! So when they’re alone on the beach, does anything happen? Will there come to be a relationship out of this winter fling? Is there any way that Miranda could pull of making the Snowflake incredible?

I loved reading this book, and it made me want to keep reading. When I read how funny and unique Miranda was, I came to love reading about her. Although she was a litter insecure and a bit too afraid, I still liked hearing about what happened next. Piper Banks did a great job of making everything seem real and connecting real life situations. If you want to hear about someone else’s problems, this book is perfect for you! I found myself laughing out loud a couple of times during this read, and those are the types of books I love! Something that I thought was really interesting about this book is that the cliché teen drama was mixed up a bit. Although Miranda still aspires to be beautiful, this book is different. With the gifted school as a way of spicing things up and changing things from the typical teen fiction book, I though Piper Banks cleverly put this paperback together. I gave her 5 out of 5 stars because I was really pleased with the way this book came together. As a part of a series, I can’t wait to read more about Miranda and her Geek adventure in Geek Aboard!
