Alanna, a newly knighted girl, has finally achieved her goal: she is off to find adventure with her man-at-arms, Coram. She and Coram travel deep into the Tortallan desert, only to be captured by a Bazhir tribe known as the Bloody Hawk. When she gets to their village, she is appalled by what she sees. Female Bazhir’s are treated extremely poorly, and Alanna later tries to do something about it. By strangely becoming the shaman of the Bloody Hawk, she starts to train three young Bazhir’s to be the tribes next shamans, two of which are girls. After an accident with a possessed sword one of her students, the only boy, is killed. Alanna must fight now for the tribe and between her and her lover Prince Jon.

The Woman Who Rides Like a Man

, the third book in Song of the Lioness series, is an all right book. In my opinion Pierce seemed as if she was rushing through the book. She skipped a lot of things that happened in Alanna’s life. I would only recommend this book to people who like adventure and action books.
