In “Black Dawn”, Maggie, leading a group of people, stumbles upon an old Night World kingdom where the ruling vampire prince is both an enemy and an ally. Maggie’s brother gets killed and Maggie thinks that his girlfriend isn’t telling the truth. So she follows his girlfriend, Sylvia, to her place. Maggie gets caught and gets put in a carriage.  She falls asleep and has the most bizarre dream. Maggie wakes up, frightened to death, and finds a whole bunch of other people in the carriage with her. She finds out where the carriage is going and that they are going to be slaves, whipped to death, beaten, and meals for vampires, with no freedom. Her and the other people get out of the carriage and runaway. It would be easy if, Maggie wasn’t carrying a teenage girl who is poisoned. She gets caught but, the boy, prince of the night world and doesn’t care about anyone, and her have this connection that she can’t get out of her mind and can’t control. He wants to kill her and her friend, but something happens that he can’t explain. Will he kill Maggie and her friend? Will Maggie find out what Sylvia was up to? Will her friend die?

I have to admit that “Black Dawn” is my favorite book out of “Night World.” It really tricks you and does exactly the opposite of what you are thinking. It really is a book that will get you thinking and wondering. Maggie, adventurous as ever, surprises you. The end is kind of weak. They are missing a couple of things, but they do remember the crucial parts. “Black Dawn” is a must read book. If you like Vampires, Shape shifters, and magic then this is the book for you.
