Hardy Boys            The Sinister Signpost, a Hardy Boys book written by Franking W. Dixon, is a mystery novel about Frank and Joe Hardy. In this book, these two amateur detectives attempt to solve the mystery of The Sinister Signpost. This piece of literature has some themes such as persistence, patience, and friendship. It is a thrilling book.  

            Frank and Joe Hardy, two amateur detectives, are called to the scene! While being tested with a new motor, three car accidents are caused by the same odd series of events. Soon the man who created the motor finds his race horse is being held ransom. Could these two happenings be somehow related? Is there something more than meets the eye in this mystery?

            Some themes in The Sinister Signpost are persistence, patience, and friendship. When the Hardy Boys seem to have lost the trail, through persistence and a little bit of luck, they soon come back and are closer than ever. Had Frank and Joe lost patience and given up on the case when they showed up to the kidnapper’s hideout just too late, they would never have found some of their most helpful clues. If the Hardy Boys had not been friends with Chet Morton, then they would never have found one of their largest clues… a picture of the kidnapped horse.

             The Sinister Signpost should be highly recommended for boys of all ages, pre-teens, and people who just like a good mystery. The vocabulary in this book is simple and easy to understand, and the characters are well-developed. Franking W. Dixon does a wonderful job capturing the minds of all who choose to pick up a Hardy Boys book.   

            All Hardy Boys books, The Sinister Signpost included, are fun and interesting mysteries.  The setting is in a town called Bayport. The author did a wonderful job in characterization. By the way the characters act, you can tell what they are feeling.  Franking W. Dixon is a skilled and inventive author.
