“He holds the secret that can end the world.”

Nicholas Flemel is 700 years old and is said to have discovered the secret of eternal life. Flamel’s secret is in the book he protects, the book of Abraham the Mage or also called The Codex. It’s a powerful book and in the wrong hands it can end the world. Dr. John Dee plans to do just that. If the prophecy is correct, Sophie and Josh Newman are the only ones that can save the world or destroy it. Sophie and Josh are about to be in the greatest legend of all. The twins, Sophie and Josh, find that fairy tales, dreams, and legends are becoming reality.

This book takes place in San Francisco and different Realms and is set in present time. The Magician succeeds this book and then is followed by the other books in the series. The story is uncomplicated and relates real historical events to the characters. This novel is exciting, active, and very detailed, but the characters move from place to place very quickly and it’s hard to keep track of where they are sometimes. I would recommend this book to any one who loves magic and fantasy. Once you finish The Alchemist you’ll immediately want to find the next in the series.

This book looks exciting. If you like this series I would reccomend the Artemis Fowl series to you. Enjoy!
