Sam Cayhall was accused of bombing a office of a Jewish male and killing two of the man’s kids.  The first two Sam Cayhall trials were held up because the jury couldn’t make a decision so he was free.  A third trial was requested and went underway. A few weeks later they found Sam guilty.  The punishment is a death sentence.  About two months later his grandson Alex Cayhall, which Sam doesn’t even know about, is going to talk to him and see if he can represent him in the case.  Sam finally accepts a lawyer and they get to business.  Does Sam get pardoned, or is it off with his head?

The story starts in a small town in the south that is a major racist town.  The Chamber by John Grisham is one of the better mystery books and it’s touching knowing his grandson is trying to protect him after all of the stuff he has done, murder, bombings, and Alex still sticks up for him.  I recommend this book for anyone who loves mysteries and teenage boys.  I don’t think many girls would like this book.
