Giselle, a bright, hard- working and intelligent young woman, has found herself in a deep hole.  Once studying her way to the top, Giselle, a top-medical student and a role model to her peers, can’t hold on any longer.  Though she has always had a problem with anorexia, Giselle had no idea what was coming ahead.  Everything started to go wrong, she started drinking, doing meth, and not eating anything; so she had to come home from college and work to not only get herself in line, but her friends and family, too. Well what she has left of a family, anyway.  Her sister, Holly, is a track star, but with everything that is going on, she may make some wrong decisions, too.  Getting everyone in line won’t be easy and from past experiences, it may never happen.  To make things even worse, another person is in Giselle’s body, telling her what to do.  Following the voices orders, Giselle will do things that she would have never done before.  Not only that, but issues start to arise with Giselle’s friends and family because of her disease.  Will everything work out?  Will her family survive?  Will Giselle ever recover?

Skinny is a very interesting book that reveals the truth about what is really happening when someone has an eating disorder.  Ibi Kaslik has a very unique and creative writing style.  Alternating chapters, you hear both sides of the story, from Holly to Giselle.  It is not only about anorexia, it’s about loving, caring, breaking, and forgiving.  Even though this book can boring at some parts, it will pull you in at others.  I would recommend this book to teenage girls and people who can handle a twisted book.  Skinny will leave you wanting more and the end will leave you breathless.
