In Chanda Hahn’s novel, “Unenchanted”, Mina Grime, a teenager in high school, is very clumsy, unlucky and unpopular. However, her social status skyrockets when she surprisingly saves her crush’s life on a school field trip. Although Mina is now the most popular girl in school, an old family curse has come to taunt her for life. The curse includes truing to live through a lot of powerful fairytale stories. Some have happy endings, but some also end with the main character dying. To break the curse, Mina must finish all the tales until the very grim end. Will Mina finish all the tales and live through the Grimm family curse, or will she fail and die trying to save someone else?

This was a quick read but a very good book! Chanda includes many literary elements such a flash back, and characterization. Even though this was a somewhat short book, “Unenchanted” is filled with amazing detail and tons of mystery! “Unenchanted” is the first of 3 books and I can’t wait to dive into the next 2! I hope you will enjoy this book as much as I did!
