Maddie’s life has been turned upside down. Her parents just got divorced, she’s being forced to live with her grandmother in her unicorn covered house, and worst of all, her grandmother embarrassed her in front of the entire school, and told off the most popular guy … all on her first day at the new school. Maddie’s life seems hopeless, but it seems to brighten up when her dad buys her an online computer game. Maddie finds herself hooked, and can’t wait to get home from her terrible school days, made worst by  the popular bully, Billy, who sees fit to make her life terrible, to sign on and explore with her elf mage, Allora. Everything seems better when she gets home and can go on online adventures with her newest virtual romance, Sir Leo. But when romance in real life distracts her, she spends her time worrying about what will become of her crush on one of the schools hottest guys, Chad. As her year progresses Maddie makes some friends that see fit to help her through the year, but what will become of her romances with Sir Leo and Chad? It’s all in the writing.

I give this book 4.5 stars because it is one of the best books I have ever read. Being a gamer myself I am able to relate to Maddie. The book is satisfying although it is quite short. The vocabulary might be a little hard to understand for people who have never been involved with video games before. This book is easily one of my favorites, and although it is about gaming it also has a separate plot going on at the same time.  Mari Mancusi is a great author, and does a great job using vivid writing to display the scenes of the book, and disrobes the characters greatly. I found my self falling in love with both Chad and Sir Leo, and the ending is very satisfying.  I would recommend this book to anyone, even if they do not enjoy video games.
