In the future 17 year old, Lena Haloway, can’t wait until September 3rd, the date of her procedure. After the procedure she will be safe from love forever, she will be paired with a man that the judges believe is right for her, they will tell her how many kids she is going to have, what she is going to do for a living, where she goes to college, etc. Lena wants to be cured with all her heart, until Alex comes into play that is. For the rest of the summer Lena and Alex meet up and spend the days of summer together knowing Lena only has so much time left, but Alex has a secret that might be able to keep them together forever.
Delirium is a thrilling story that will make you want to never put it down. Lauren Oliver does an amazing job of explaining all the feelings Lena goes through as the summer with Alex rolls along. The story takes place in the future in the city of Portland. I would recommend this book to teenage girls who love a good thrill. Delirium will leave you breathless and wishing for more.
