On March 23rd, tmz.com reported that the “biggest movie of the year” had hit the big screen. Suzanne Collins’ biggest novel The Hunger Games had turned into a blockbuster hit, grossing multi-millions within the opening night. Collins fans across the world lined up outside of their local movie theaters to witness 27 hopefuls fighting for their life at the capital.

The Hunger Games had already been a hit due to its’ loyal fans after the book came out in 2008, however when word got out that it would soon be a hit on the big screen, people who weren’t before fans soon became fans, and books from the famous trilogy were flying off the shelves almost instantaneously. The movie was so highly anticipated, merchandise for the movie was selling in department stores, music stores, and specialty stores across the country, and even the world. “Team Katniss” and “Team Peeta” shirts were much-saw trends around the globe in anticipation and excitement for the 2012 film. Even hotshot celebrities like Taylor Swift indorsed the film by allowing the producers to put her billboard single “Eyes Open” in the film.

Whether you were a reader, or lining up to watch the movie on opening night, The Hunger Games, as a novel, series, or movie, effected everyone at one point at its’ peak of fame.
