Spelunking, hiking, scuba diving, traveling, touring, giving seminars, making presentations, and yes, writing, James Rollins does it all. Living in Northern California, he has written 6 individual stories including Altar of Eden, Ice Hunt, Amazonia, Deep Fathom, Excavation, and Subterranean, the all famous Sigma series comprised of The Devil Colony, The Doomsday Key, The Last Oracle, The Judas Strain, Black Order, Map of Bones, and Sandstorm, a 2 book kids series with Jake Ransom and the Skull Kings Shadow and Jake Ransom and the Howling Sphinx, the short stories The Skeleton Key, Fear: 13 Stories of Suspense and Horror, Thrillers 100 Must Reads, and Warriors, and the movie novelization of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Needless to say, James has a lot of experience in writing stories and is even adding a book to the Sigma series (Bloodline)

Rollins was surrounded by books from a young age, immersing himself in scientific adventures of Doc Savage, the wonders of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, and pulps featuring The Shadow, The Spider, and The Avenger. From these novels came the desire to create adventures himself and is reflected in his successful, bestselling books. The books he writes involve a lot of time and research to get facts right and even uses his own adventures for some parts of a story. His stories are very scientifically accurate and are backed by his degree in veterinary science. Overall, I think James Rollins is a great author and shows this in his books, real life adventures, and tedious research.
