Just enough to feel the scream inside, Callie cuts herself, though never too deep, never enough to die, Callie cuts herself just enough to feel the pain.

Now at a residential treatment facility, called Sea Pines, filled with girls with problems that engulf them, Callie detaches herself from the world, allowing silence to fill her presence. Callie won’t speak. Hence, people have nicknamed her S.T., short for silent treatment. Callie wants nothing to do with the girls, or anyone else for that matter. How much longer before Callie’s silence is broken?

Callie haunted by the day her younger brother Sam got sick, really sick, is being gnawed on by guilt. With the daily reminder that Sam could die sometime soon, Callie feels responsible. Callie feels that she is the one to blame. She believes she made Sam sick. Will Callie realize that she may not be the one to blame, that she may not be responsible for that awful, terrifying day, the day Sam almost died?

Patricia McCormick has wonderfully written Cut, in a very intriguing way, that will have you walking in the mind of Callie, allowing you to be in the story itself, as if you were the one concealed by silence.
