Picture this, you are a young man, your mother is a cocaine addict, your father is nowhere to be found, and you have multiple brothers and sisters, and to top it off your homeless. This is a young Michael Oher’s scary reality. Until one fateful day, Michael gets the chance of his life. He gets the chance to go to school, to get away from all the crime, and to start anew at a Christian school called Briarcrest, in Memphis, Tennessee. Michael Oher (Big Mike), and Steven were on their way to a new beginning. When Michael Oher first met the coaches at Briarcrest, they were astounded by Big Mike’s sheer size. He is 6’6 344lbs of pure man. When they put him on the field to test his skills they were amazed even further. There is only one problem that is keeping Michaels acceptance to Briarcrest a done deal.
The Blind Side by Michael Lewis a dramatic story of one 16 year-old boy’s rise from rags to riches. This story opens a new side to the constant war against drugs. The blind Side is a story that conveys just how easily drug use can tear a family apart. Michael Lewis uses a lot of literary elements such as: tone. He sets the tone to make the reader feel a sense of pity all throughout the story. I think The Blind Side is a timeless classic about how your luck can change, but won’t have a major effect if you don’t do something about it. I would recommend The Blind Side to anyone who likes a football story, or a good drama.
