Imagine you are sitting in a small town diner. The sun is out and you are relaxing with your two kids. Suddenly, one of the waitresses come up to your table with a note. This note says, “Urgent I speak with you now. I am in danger and things are going nuclear! Only you can stop it.” You now look across the diner to the man the note came from. As you walk across the diner, he is shot twice in the back. As you chase the assassin, you realize this assassin is a Chinese woman by the title of Colonel Shu. As you find out more about the incident, you realize Shu is working with Chinese rebels in Wiengwei, a territory fighting for independence from China. As the plot thickens, you realize the rebels are trying to, by any means, obtain nuclear missiles to threaten China into granting their freedom. All of a sudden, you are caught in what could be the start of World War 3. Now it is a race against time to protect the nukes at all costs. And you have to stop it.

First Strike is a novel I’d recommend to just about anyone who likes a good adventure. Jack Higgins and Justin Richards do a great job of captivating you from the first couple pages with a huge plot that becomes more and more complicated as you read on. People who like books with a military feel will like this book because it has to do with guns, fighter jets, tanks, missiles, and lots of other military technology. Also, people who like reading for long periods of time will like this book because it is hard to put down. This is truly one of my favorite books. People who like great descriptions, plot twists, all around good books, and all the other things mentioned above.
