When Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, finally conquer the city of Feinster, they are faced with the truth of finally confronting the incredibly powerful evil king, Galbatorix.  They have no idea of how to defeat him, as he is protected by magic beyond their understanding.  Desperate, they follow a clue that leads an incredible and well-guarded secret that changes everything.  Meanwhile, Eragon’s cousin, Roran, takes on the city of Aroughs with impossible odds against him.  He is outnumbered by several hundred men, and must find a different way to topple the city’s defenses to lead his men to victory.  Finally, all of the different character’s paths lead invariably to the evil king’s lair, and the battle will not disappoint.

The author includes many themes into Inheritance, some of which are overcoming your fears, beating the odds, and knowing yourself.  Eragon and Saphira must face Galbatorix and his gigantic dragon, even though they are outmatched and are afraid of what will happen.  Both Roran and Eragon have nearly impossible tasks in the book, and have to think of new ways to deal with their problems.  Finally, Eragon and Saphira must find out who they really are to find the key to winning the war.

Inheritance was one of my favorite books of all time.  The author tells the story well and never lets the pace of the plot slow down.  The characters are believable, like real people put into extraordinary situations.  I would recommend this book to anyone who has either read the first three books and enjoyed them or anyone who enjoys a book with a lot of action and good writing.
