Cole Mathews is a young juvenile delinquent that finds himself in a bit more trouble
than usual. After beating up Peter Driscal for ratting him out, Cole faces a
big decision. He decides to go through the Circle Justice system and spend one
long gruesome year in the wilderness. Throughout his adventure, he faces many
hardships. He will learn how to contain his anger without raging out on other
people. There are a couple of people who act as important members in his
transformation. They act as mentors during this phase of his life. They help
him understand what is right and wrong. They show him that not everyone is out
to get him. They are the only people that he can currently trust. After an
incident on the island, he changes his way of thinking. He starts thinking not
so much about himself, but other people that he has hurt. This novel explores
the journey Cole attempts to make in order to change his life. Will the trials
hold Cole back, or will he press through in order to transform his life?

I rated this book with four out of
five stars. It is one of the better books I have read and would defiantly
recommend it to a friend of family member. Ben Mikaelson does a great job
putting words into pictures. You can visualize the scenes in your head and make
predictions about what will happen next. This books outcome is interesting and
if you need a book to read that will keep you guessing, this is the one.
