Welcome To Sea Pines. A residential treatment facility for the mentally ill. There are many girls here who are struggling with problems that range from anorexia to self harm. Callie is one of the girls that self harm. She never cuts deep enough to bleed to death or anything, just enough to feel the scream inside. While here at Sea Pines, she goes to therapy. There’s only one problem; Callie doesn’t talk. To anyone at all. She doesn’t think that she should be here either. She doesn’t want anything to do with any of the other patients Callie goes to group therapy but, obviously, doesn’t talk either. But Callie can only stay silent for so long…

Cut is an extremely interesting book that talks about the real life struggles that people who self harm go through. Patricia McCormick is a very detailed author who isn’t afraid to go in depth about the feelings and thoughts of the characters. This book isn’t about just the struggles that Callie has to go through; it’s also about trusting others and caring. Even though this book can drag on and be boring sometimes, it’s a very good book. I would recommend this book to teenage girls and others who don’t mind some disturbed thoughts.
