Though his father forbade him to venture back into the dark library and riffle through the forbidden books, Victor still does, but his reasons is purely to do good… That good is to find the cure for his beloved twin brother, who has drastically fallen ill to an unknown disease with an unknown cure.

Believing that the cure resides in the Elixir of Life, Victor Frankenstein leads his beautiful cousin Elizabeth and his best friend Henry, on a dark and dangerous journey, in search of its three ingredients. With each ingredient, deadly situations arise, which threatens the trio’s chance of completing the Elixir of Life.

With each deadly situation, Victor becomes more and more aware of what he has to sacrifice, in order to save his brother. Victor knows he must not fail, but how far is he willing to stretch the boundaries of bitter-sweet love and his darkest obsessions?

Right from the start, Kenneth Oppel casts a spell over the readers, drawing them into a brewing book of twists and turns and forbidden alchemistry, taking them on a treacherous journey that will have the reader at the edge of their seats, with a new obsession…With an end that will leave the reader will their mouth hinged open, making this journey an unforgettable story.
