Bella Swan is nothing but more than the average, accident-prone, klutz that every other average kid meets in high school, but Edward Cullen isn’t part of average. The god-like beauty, with white skin and perfectly tousled bronze hair makes Bella swoon at every sight. But it wasn’t until Biology where Bella would be able to study Edward’s beauty more thoroughly. Unfortunately for her, Edward, her lap partner, doesn’t seem to want to see her, or even be within a thousand-mile radius of her. To Bella’s despair, he frequently disappears for days at a time. It takes a while before Bella realizes his eyes, black and harsh with hatred one day, and then the golden color of butterscotch the days he wants nothing more than to start conversation. And that’s where it starts. Bella’s friendship with Edward and the rest of his “perfect” family, leads to trauma when a fellow “tracker” vampire, thirsts for Bella’s blood.
Twilight, the first book of the Twilight series, is an amazing read. The convincing character development makes this the best book of the decade, so far. Offering equal amounts of suspense and romance, I was not able to put the book down. I would recommend this book to girls ages 12+. This book just goes to prove, death is inescapable, that is, unless you’re immortal.
