Its 1911 and you’re a once wanted man in one of the most popular outlaw gangs, now all you want is peace from your troubled, young, and irresponsible past. You move into the wild frontier of now present day Texas to redeem yourself of your troubled past, your offer? Kill your former gang members.  You’re John Marston, former outlaw led by gang leader Dutch van der Linde, sent out to kill him and the rest of your gang so the government officials will let you go back to your peaceful ranch, back to a normal life and a chance to start again with your family, wife Abigail and son Jack. You go to relieve your past of your once haunting ways as an outlaw, but in the end find out you can’t escape your past.

Red Dead Redemption is a full sandbox game released on May 18th 2010 on systems such as Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. The game is rated M for Mature for blood, intense violence, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, use of drugs, but if your mature enough, you can handle it. Game play on Red dead redemption is simply amazing. If you like western movies, imagine living through all the classics, like open range cowboys, savage Indians, and Mexican banditos, all in one. Throughout campaign various scenarios confront you, whether it is people, tragedies or events. Most of the game itself is accurate in setting, like technology and environment. Things stand out like the stage coach, horse, and even early cars. Even the guns are accurate in time like the Winchester and Henry repeaters and colt pistols and revolvers. One of the things that makes this game the most enjoyable is its stunning environment. You can be in 1911 Texas plains, Mexican canyons, and northern Texas woods. Even animals fill these environments, all which can be interacted with, whether it be just a rattlesnake on the ground to a cougar in the mountains, it can be hunted and sold for its hide. Another great feature of this game is the environment audio and the character voices. Each character has their own story and by helping those stories, you advance further in campaign, thus ending with your own personal story. Characters include miners, ranchers, cowboys, outlaws, bandits, lawmen and the army. If you ever find yourself bored, which you shouldn’t, there are various mini games scattered throughout the vast Western state, things like Texas hold ‘em, liars dice, five finger fillet, shootout, horseshoes, night watches and much more. Even if that makes you lose interest, there is multiplayer, ranging from a variety of different play styles. If it’s still not enough, there is even a sandbox game type where you can make a posse and complete gang hideouts.

This game is an intriguing story that will make you stay up days on end to try to “redeem” yourself of your sins and troubled pass. Conflicts will come and they will pass but this game is overall beautiful, almost flawless. I have the undead nightmare downloadable content and that is very good and fits with the storyline before it flawlessly. Once beating the game it gets a little bit unplayable but once giving it some time, you will get right back in it. Words can hardly capture what you will get from this and I feel as though this review itself is disgraceful but overall, a solid 5 out of 5 stars.
