Tyler Miller is a 17-year-old former geek. Due to a prank he pulled at the end of his junior year, he finds himself doing community service all summer ling. His bad boy personality and new ripped, toned physique attracts a lot of attention when his senior year begins. Tyler even attracts the attention of his lifelong crush, queen bee Bethany Mulbery. He begins to think his life is finally going where he wants it to until things start going very, very wrong.

Bethany is the daughter of Tyler’s angry, hard working father’s boss. Then, Bethany invites Tyler to a wild party he knows he’d get in so much trouble with his parents if they found out he was there. Unfortunately, an incident involving Bethany begins and although Tyler is innocent, he gets blamed and finds his whole world turned upside down. Everyone believes him guilty, he’s pulled out of regular classes to be on his own, and his father blames him for getting fired by Bethany’s dad. Tyler’s dad talks of sending him to military school and now Tyler is torn between running away, and suicide. Tyler is confused on what it means to be a man and is now an emotional wreck.

Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson is a powerful book that you will constantly keep thinking about. Laurie pulls forth deep and honest looks on teenage boy’s life. I recommend this book to boys and girls of a mature level. This book will really open your eyes to the confusing world around you.
