All of this mess started when I was born in a bad neiborhood, and became a Greaser. My friends call me Ponyboy Curtis, me and my crew Johnny, Cherry, Dally, Soda Pop, Darry, Two-Bit. We like to hang out alot, until a I made the worst decision of my life. After the “incident” with me and Darry, I decided to run away with my best friend Johnny. Unfortunately we ran into our enemy the Socs gang and another “incident” happened. All I can say is I woke up next to the gang leader Bob, and he had a been… in the… and Johnny stood there in shock. I could only imagine what happened when I was unconsious. All this led to the biggest gang fight between the Greasers, my gang, and the Socs. After that day, one by one we started to seperate because of a chain of events that broke us apart. Unfortunately there were to many deaths, and my crew couldn’t handle it.
The Outsiders is a book about the life of a Greaser, well mainly about Ponyboy Curtis, a young boy who grew up in a rough neigborhood. His life was going like any other Greaser, gang fights, hanging out alot, being rough and tough. Until the day he ran away after a the “incident” that occured. And after that every started to die off, literally, and figuratively. When school started agian for Ponyboy, his grades dropped dramatically, to raise one of his grade was to wright a book, and so he wrote about his life, his nightmares, his friends, he wrote about the life of The Outsiders. Sounds like a familiar book right, very familiar.
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, is a book, I would recommend to, a pretty mature kid should read. I could be wrong on that, but the movie is definately for a mature audience. This isn’t really a thick book, but you may have to read it a couple of times ot understand what the book is about. The Outsiders won New York Herald Tribune Best Teenage Books List, Chicago Tribune Book World Spring Book Festival Honor Book, Media and Methods Maxi Award, Best Young Adult Books, Massachusetts Children’s Book Award, as you can see that The Outsiders won alot of awards so it’s a good book to read.
